As I write, Israeli troops are invading Lebanon on its
southern border. No doubt this escalation will heighten the
danger of a wider war, one that could involve other state
and non-state actors in that region and draw millions of
people into the fighting.

assault on Lebanon which has killed almost 300 mostly
civilian Lebanese in its first eight days. Infrastructure
has been smashed, thousands of people have been driven from
their homes, tens of thousands more have fled the country,

aggression by the Israeli government against the Palestinian
people. In the past days, the Israeli Army has launched a
series of attacks on civilian infrastructure, including
bridges, water supply facilities and Gazas only power

Thousands will be marching in the streets of Miami, Florida,
during the week of Nov. 17-21, protesting the proposed Free
Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA). They will pour into
Miami from all over the country and from all over the world.
The protesters will be trade unionists, anti-globalization
activists, environmentalists, family farmers, religious
activists, civil and human rights activists. Thousands will
come to Miami to make their voices heard at a meeting of
trade ministers from around the Americas.
