marc brodineGlobal Warming: The Communist Solution
On March 29th, 2008, Marc Brodine delivered a milestone report to the Communist Party USA National Committee on global warming. In the report, he develops and refines the Communist Party USA's ideological understanding of global climate change and its root causes. He also outlines a dynamic communist plan for stopping global warming and creating a sustainable environment for all humanity.

You can read the report, listen to the report, and even download the audio onto your iPod or other portable mp3 player.

Solidarity Pack - PWW Special Offer
Dan Margolis, PWW Business and Circulation Manager, has created a special offer for increasing both the use and the circulation of the People's Weekly World newspaper:

Solidarity Pack - PWW Special Offer
by Dan Margolis

While we have cut the number of weekly bundles of the People’s Weekly World, we are continuing to look for ways to increase the use and subscription base of the paper.

The National Organizing Department and the PWW have a new tool that keeps with the core ideas around building the paper: Every member of the Party (and friends of the PWW) can make a contribution to building it, and the best way to do so is by giving it to people we work with on a routine basis before selling a subscription.

The idea is called a “Solidarity Pack”: For $45, you get a one-year subscription of two copies each week. One copy is for you to read, and one to give to someone else.

This solves a practical problem: We’ve said that we want clubs to each get a small bundle where every member takes a copy or so to circulate to friends. However, with clubs meeting once or twice a month, and the paper coming out weekly, there was always the issue of how to get papers to each member. The Solidarity Pack provides the answer.

Also, unlike the subsidized bundles, this is a financially sustainable practice for the paper; because the $45 cost is a couple dollars above what it costs to produce and ship the papers, your subscription will pay for itself and also add much needed funds into the PWW treasury.

It is now easy for every member to be involved in selling subscriptions and getting the paper out, something crucial to building the movements for peace, equality, democracy and socialism, and, of course, building the Party.

Order your Solidarity Pack now: Call 646-437-5362 or e-mail

PWW on the Picket Line in Detroit
PWW Picket LineBy April Smith

Our district organizer here in Michigan, John Rummel, had the idea that we should take food to the picketers at American Axle (now on strike for 7 weeks). A group of us PWW readers, some from the Party and some friends, made over a hundred sandwiches.

Then three of us met at the plant. First we stopped in to see the union VP, who told us the idea (of bringing food) was great – he said to take them around to the picket line and make sure people “know who you are.” (He had previously told John that they like the paper when he leaves them at the union hall.) So then we got in the car and started driving around to the dozen or so gates into the plant. At each place we'd offer people the food (which, by the way, were very gourmet, nicely prepared sandwiches); they’d thank us, and often ask who we were. We'd give a copy of the paper containing an article on the strike, and then go on to the next group.

It was a nice day for picketing. People talked to us, then would look at (in some cases, study) the paper, and tell us how much they appreciated our support. We had a good time, the paper was given attention, and we have even better relations at the local. The VP has said he hopes to be at our May Day picnic to say a few words about the strike.
