YCL USA Honors World Federation of Democratic Youth’s 80th

The Young Communist League U.S.A. (YCL USA) salutes and honors the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY), now in its 80th year, as a militant and necessary organization to mobilize working class youth around the world against the threats to democracy and peace by fascism, imperialism, and war. The YCL USA is proud to join 150 other militant youth organizations internationally as WFDY members.

In the United States, young people are struggling on every front. The cost of living is high, and good jobs are hard to find, making it harder than ever to build a secure future. Education is increasingly becoming a privilege instead of a right, as tuition rises, student debt grows, and affirmative action is rolled back. Our generation also faces deep cultural decay fueled by social media algorithms and corporate news networks that profit from keeping us divided and hopeless. At the same time, communities have fewer recreation centers, cultural programs, and public spaces where young people can come together.

The situation facing youth in the United States reflects a broader crisis of capitalism. The necessity of the WFDY is proven now more than ever given the threats working class youth face, the return of the Trump administration and its MAGA movement, the genocide in Gaza, and a renewed wave of U.S. military aggression across Latin America. The YCL USA reaffirms its commitment to international solidarity and to building a world based on permanent peace and true democracy.
