Solidarity with Signal Ohio workers!

Journalists and reporters at Signal Ohio, a nonprofit with newsrooms across the state, are joining the Northeast Ohio Newsguild of the Communication Workers of America (CWA), and are petitioning for voluntary recognition from the CEO.

The fight for union recognition and a first contract at Signal Ohio is of importance to not just communication and media workers, but to all working people. While corporate media like Fox News revise American history and peddle lies about election fraud, the workers at Signal Ohio are organizing for a say in how the news is made. One particular area of concern for Signal Ohio workers is the use of artificial intelligence in producing the news.

Companies have only just begun to use A.I. to cut labor costs, replace workers, and lower the overall quality of products and services. One study from Stanford University links a thirteen percent drop in employment opportunities for young adults with corporate use of generative A.I. The fight against corporate ownership and misuse of A.I. will be won in our workplaces and communities, in struggles for union recognition and against corporate domination of all aspects of modern life.

The Ohio District of the Communist Party USA pledges its support for these working journalists and reporters, and all working professionals organizing for a better world.
