Remembering May Day: Lucy Parsons

Jo Eure will lead the class in a discussion of the following questions:

  • What is anarchism?
  • What are some of anarchism’s political methods and goals?
  • What is socialism from a Marxist perspective?
  • Who was Lucy Parsons?
  • What were Lucy Parson’s relations to anarchism and how did these relations effect her politics?
  • Who was Albert Parsons and what were his politics?
  • Was Lucy Parsons a member of the Communist Party of the United states of America?
Biography:  Jo Eure has been an active political participant in social causes for at least 15 years. 
This activism includes building support for the Katrina disaster, the Fight for $15, the
Democratic Republic of the Congo Support Committee, and the Haitian Support Committee.
The last few years have been devoted to reading, research, and writing on different community
issues.  Most of the efforts now center on the arts and writing movie reviews during the
Pan African Arts Festival.
