The shooting death of two employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington D.C. Wednesday night has no place in the fight against the Gaza genocide and for the just cause of the Palestinian people for an independent state. Rather, it sets the stage for attempts to repress the U.S. Palestinian solidarity movement. This attempt is already underway in the MAGA right’s “Project Esther.”
Acts of terror invariably set back movements for peace and justice.
From the movement against apartheid in South Africa to today’s fight against the apartheid policies of the right-wing Zionist Netanyahu government, it is militant non-violent protest that has time and again proven to be the most effective form of struggle. Trump’s green light to Israel’s attempt to force Palestinians out of Gaza — including starving the population to death — underscores the need to step up the protest.
We completely reject the murders as a form of struggle. The ongoing militarization of public discourse and hate mongering by MAGA right help create an atmosphere in which such acts take place.
Today we must focus on building a peace and solidarity majority for democracy at home and the liberation of Palestine abroad. Yes! Palestinian solidarity must be an indispensable part of the anti-MAGA fightback and resistance. We remain committed to joining forces in common cause for these goals here at home and in Palestine and Israel as well.
