Fast Track Passage in the House Threatens to Give President Undue Powers

U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed Fast Track trade authority bill. The vote was 215-214. According to the Associated Press, ‘Democrats said the measure failed to guarantee minimal worker and environmental protections in America’s trading partners.’ This legislation ‘would give the president authority to negotiate trade deals, then submit them to Congress on a take-it-or-leave-it basis, no amendments allowed.’

Passage in the Senate can be stopped. Call, fax and e-mail your senator to voice your concern about Fast Track.
