The right to vote is so precious that people died to win it. Yet nearly 90 million people did not exercise that right in the 2024 election, greater than the number who voted either for Trump or Harris. Convincing people to register and vote is key to victory in defending democracy and everything we have won over centuries of struggle.
Trump and the MAGA Republicans are gerrymandering Texas and a dozen other states to keep majority MAGA control of the House. It is outright vote theft! Their aim is to force upon us a fascist-like dictatorship, to end voting forever!
The lie that there is a problem of non-citizens voting illegally is a fraud being promoted to undermine voting rights, impose onerous identification requirements for everyone, and intimidate immigrants who are new citizens from participation. In fact, in the last 40 years of voting, a total of one billion votes were cast and only 70 were non-citizens. Don’t fall for the hoax!

Trump has a dwindling minority of support. That is why he must steal from us one of our most powerful political tools for fighting back: voting. There is even talk of Trump canceling the 2028 election — a coup d’état. He and his billionaire cronies fear the workers’ political power at the ballot box!
We must:
- Turn out voters to elect pro-worker candidates in the 2026 midterm election. If the MAGA cabal loses four Senate seats and three House seats in 2026, it will end Republican control of the House and Senate. And we can win more if we help turn out a landslide vote!
- Work for a mighty turnout in the 2028 Presidential election to defeat the MAGA presidential nominee and all other MAGA candidates at every level of government.
- Join in the movement to register voters, including with the NAACP, the League of Women Voters, “Motor-Voter,” tabling at high schools, colleges, churches, street corners, to register new voters.
- Fight MAGA modern-day Jim Crow schemes to deny our right to vote including reducing or ending early voting, closing, relocating voting places, ending vote-by-mail, red tape for seniors, disabled, and military personnel absentee voting, and red tape on voter IDs.
- Seek out progressive, independent candidates who defend voting rights and all other democratic rights and benefits. That includes support for Communist and Socialist candidates.
- Support the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2025 (H.R. 14), pending in congress now. The late Rep. Lewis introduced the measure after the rightwing dominated U.S. Supreme Court gutted the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Lewis was nearly beaten to death by racists while leading a voting rights march in Selma, Mar. 7, 1965. That movement won enactment of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Remember John Lewis, voting rights martyrs Medgar Evers and Viola Liuzzo!
Register! Vote!
