Young communists support miners, picket BlackRock

In solidarity with the UMWA miners striking in Alabama, the Young Communist League rallied outside the Chicago BlackRock headquarters. The Alabama Warrior Met Coal miners took a heavy pay cut to keep their jobs alive and have yet to be compensated, while BlackRock raked in millions in consulting fees. For nearly a year, miners have been standing up to Warrior Met with clear demands: better pay, better health care, and better scheduling. Comrades from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio came together to promote the UMWA’s strike fund and demand that BlackRock return its stolen profits to the miners.

A nationwide online event to support the strikers will be held on Feb. 22. Click here for details.
