People are voting with their feet

People everywhere are waking up to the fact that capitalism isn't sustainable.

Dear Friend,

People everywhere are waking up to the fact that capitalism isn't sustainable - and they are taking it to the streets! For jobs, peace, and an end to corporate greed, actions and occupations are occurring daily in the U.S., as well as the rest of the world. We are the 99% who are battling to get back what the top 1% stole from us.

Below are a few examples of what is making a difference.

October 10-16 Week of Action (So Far)

Several actions have already happened for the week, such as this protest in Chicago; also written about here for the People's World by yours truly. But there are still more to come - and probably some near you!  Find out here and join up.

Occupy Wall Street and Everywhere Else

What started on September 17 by a few folks protesting on Wall Street has turned into a global movement. Events to "occupy" places are now happening in almost 1,400 cities world-wide. John Wojcik of the People's World writes about this growing phenomenon here.

Coming up on October 15th there will be Global Solidarity events for the Occupy Movement around the world, as well as a Call to Action Against Banks on the same day.

As the occupations are often happening 24/7, it's quite possible there is one happening right now in your city. Check here to see and get involved and to you can read the list of demands for the Occupy Wall Street here.

To help implement these demands, RootsAction has an online action tool to stop the cuts and tax Wall Street.

The American Jobs Act President Obama has put forth this bill as a first step in solving the unemployment crisis in our country. It has many laudable ideas and deserves our support. If you have not done so already, please contact your congressional delegation to pass the American Jobs Act.

Please make sure to visit the People's World online for the best in worker's news!

  • I am sure that the Capitalism and its’ soul of antihuman aspects created all these mesh. So, it will be treated by the people by deconstructing it in to Socialism. A more lovable Socialism will be much supportable than this nasty money game politics controlled by the Capitalism. The whole world is looking to Wall Street for good results by not harming anyone, but to protest strongly against the monsters. Long live Socialism.

  • As a Chinese and a member of China Communist Party, and a college student intrested in the now-going Occuping XXX movement trhoughout the world, I beg you to read my opinion.
Firstly, I want to say, you American's thought about Communism or Capitalism is in a mess. Really. I can just find it out from those comments below. And I think the Greeks are the same. On one hand, they don't give up their benifits, even a little, to support the government overcome the debt crisis; on the other hand, they making criticals on government that it doesn't work in crisis...dead cycling. Worse, they raised strikes, made Greek economy weaker. The purpose of saying Greeks is, to make someone know, in a crisis, everybody has to decrease their self benefit to a lower level, make the country first. Do you know in the 98' Asian Economic Crisis, the Koreans(ROK not DPRK) donate their gold jewllerys to government? How do you feel, huh? Surprised, right? Me too. But, Korean is not a communist country. In communist theory, this is called the self-waking(or something semilar), unfortunately, even in China, the self-waked people are rear. So, if some country really want to convert a csocialist or communist, it needs a mass scaled self-waking among its citizens. That's why USSR collapsed and China now is going on a CAPITALIST road. Before this done, Communist is like a cloud, can see but can't touch.
Secondly, how to reach the point when majority people have self-waked? Honestly, I don't know, and we don't know. But onething we know is, it needs a long tern development. Of course, we can make people self-waked by someother quick ways. See Nazis, they said they're National Scialism. This is quick, but highly depend on the leader himself and dangerous to the other countries.
The last, why I am here? Because you Americans have a stereotype among the world: you are CREATIVE. The taditional socialism like in USSR and China and the new type of socialism in Europe, with the feature of high benefit, are both failed. Since now you are intended to change, may be its a good oppotunity to creat a new type of socialism combined with democracy, humanty, legalistic, equal, justice, peace and happiness.

  • Communism has yet to work. It has been tried with very stong central goverments and weak ones. They always end in misery and oppression.

  • I just thought of this sign: "People want jobs; Wall Street wants wealth."

    Thanks.

  • I thought the USSR, China, Cuba, North Korea, and Vietnam already tried Communism and socialism for an economic plan. I thought they all found out it didn't work and have for the most part or are well on their way to converting to at least some form of capitalism. So what makes you think it will work now. Has capitalism really failed or have the governments who are in charge of regulating capitalism to make it fair failed to do so due to corruption? I just don't think that economic systems that do not allow a person who works harder to earn more is can sustain itself. We found this to be true after the fall of the iron curtain. Have you already forgotten your history this soon?
If you get paid the same if you put in a good days work or just loaf all day, you would have to be a dummy to work hard when you get paid the same doing next to nothing. Mankind is not altruistic. We don't just do things to benefit others because it makes us feel good. We have to be motivated. If mankind was all truistic then Jesus Christ wouldn't have had to die on the cross!!

  • The fight is only just begining, this is our revolution! This is our chance to show the world that not only can socialism work but it must work. We as the CPUSA have to take on the job of cleaning up the word socialism so that it can be used again with invoking thoughts of Stalin or (incorrectly) Hitler, and once we have cleaned the stains from socialism we can move forward with the idea of world peace!
