Proposed Resolution: Establish an Organizing Department

BY: Washington District| May 20, 2014

Resoluton submitted to the Washington State Convention, April 26, 2014

WHEREAS:

There are many regions of the country that lack a formal Party organization to absorb the large number of people attempting to join or showing interest in joining the party in recent years, and

WHEREAS:

The growth of the Party in these regions will likely be stymied by the lack of a formal structure to absorb and educate new members.

WHEREAS:

There has been a successful organizing drive to establish a new club in King County Washington organized by the Party involving senior Cadre and experienced organizers that would not likely have been successful without their involvement, and

WHEREAS:

The successful organizing drive consisted of a concentrated, coordinated effort by local and regional Cadre to contact by email and telephone all potential members in an area (many from the internet, several from organic social contacts), meet and evaluate these people, inform them what it means to be in the Party, admit them into the Party, and organize into a club these new members.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED

that the Washington State District requests, with the understanding of financial limitations and logistical realities, that the CPUSA Nationally adopt an organizing policy and office, or officers which will gather up the stories and experience of Cadre who have participated in this sort of organizing work, and utilize this experience to formulate and implement a program for the growth of the party in formally unorganized districts and regions.
