Originally slotted for 15 minutes the wide ranging interview lasted for almost one-half hour, with Combs asking pointed questions about the difference between socialism and communism, the party’s electoral policy – defeating the extreme right – and whether the socialist option was even realistic for the U.S.
To the latter Bachtell unequivocally answered yes, arguing that not only was socialism realistic but necessary given the grave threat to humanity posed by climate change.
Callers from around the country also had an opportunity to challenge Bachtell on some basic issues from repression in the former Soviet Union to whether there were examples of viable socialist options already in the U.S. Listen in and let us know what you think!
