is an official holiday in nearly 80 countries around the
world. After years of being little recognized in the land
of its birth, May Day is on the rise again in this country.
First revitalized by the explosive immigrant rights
demonstrations on May Day 2006 and then claimed by the
burgeoning Occupy Wall Street movement, now May Day is being
embraced by the U.S. labor movement in ways it has never
