In-depth essays by collectives, leaders and activists from the Party and beyond.

Three weeks ago the Bush administration announced a new strategic-military
policy, titled, “The National Security Strategy of the United States,” which,
to put it bluntly, is a promissory note for unending and calamitous war.

The results of the 2002 elections are not in the bag for the Bush Republicans. It would be a fatal mistake to come to that conclusion at this critical moment, six weeks before Election Day. The Bush Republicans are engaging in tactics of desperation. This election is too close to call as of today.

Political Affairs Magazine - June, 2001

On April 21st, in trying to intimidate those who dared create independent media coverage of the anti-FTAA demonstrations in Quebec City, the FBI made a blundering assault on Internet freedom of speech. A sealed court order was served to the Seattle Independent Media Center (IMC) demanding access to "all the user connection logs" for April 21st and 22nd on a particular IMC website server. IMC volunteers were banned from publicizing the existence of the order under penalty of contempt. A defense of the First Amendment mounted by the Seattle IMC and supporters won the lifting of the gag order. You can get info from their web site www.indymedia.org.
