World peace; solidarity against war and imperialist globalization -- a world order beyond intervention and domination.
  Category: Description:
Iraq War Organizing to end the Iraq War.

On December 14, 2002 thousands of youth will hit the streets of Harlem and Washington Heights to let our voices be heard. Uptowh Youth for Peace and Justice recognizes the urgency of opposing this war, which would represent not only an attack on the innocent people of Iraq, but also on our communities at home.

Three weeks ago the Bush administration announced a new strategic-military
policy, titled, “The National Security Strategy of the United States,” which,
to put it bluntly, is a promissory note for unending and calamitous war.

From The People's Weekly World: At the heart of any viable solution to the present conflict in the Middle East lies the issue of full national rights and statehood for the Palestinian people. Peoples and governments worldwide increasingly recognize this fact.

The reports from occupied Ramallah speak for themselves. The live reports I receive by phone or e-mail from friends and colleagues in Ramallah, Bir-Zeit, Tulkarm and other Palestinian cities are dreadful.

At a movie theater turned convention hall, the Communist Party of India ? (Marxist) [CPI(M)] held its 17th Congress here, March 19-24. The hall was adorned with banners quoting from Marx, Engels, Lenin and Che Guavara. Outside life-size portraits of CPI(M) leaders welcomed the 750 delegates and guests. The CPI(M) is one of the largest Communist Parties in the non-socialist world with 700,000 members.

Earlier this month, a Communist Party USA delegation ? National Chairman Sam Webb, Vice Chairman Scott Marshall, African American Equality Commission Chairwoman Debbie Bell and International Secretary Marilyn Bechtel ? visited China for a week on invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC). From The People's Weekly World: A spectre is haunting the world -- the spectre of nuclear war. Does this sound like rhetorical exaggeration? Perhaps, but the leaking of the Nuclear Posture Review offers a sobering glimpse into the Dr. Strangelove mentality that now inhabits the White House.

In our call to this meeting we stated that peace has become the central issue around which all other struggles revolve today. Whether it is the struggle for affordable housing, for immigrants rights, for nationalization of the steal industry or for a just foreign policy, none can make progress while the current administration pursues it unending "war on terrorism." The war on terrorism has become the rationale for pursuing a militaristic, anti-democratic, anti-labor anti-women and racist agenda against all people while wrapping it in the flag of patriotism.

The Communist Party USA calls upon the international peace movement to rise up and defend the rights and lives of the Palestinian people in their hour of crisis. The barbaric violence inflicted upon the Palestinians by the Israeli government, with the support of the Bush administration, has led the region to the brink of an all-out war.
More CPUSA Calls to Action for Peace and Economic Justice

The shocking and terrifying nature of the Sept. 11 assault has done more than temporarily traumatize the nation. It has also given the Bush administration and the far right a new
legitimizing discourse, or, to put it in a less highfalutin way, a new ideological rationale to pursue its political objectives at home and worldwide.

The Communist Party USA strongly denounces the brutal attack on the Communist Party of Chile and its members November 28 in Santiago, Chile.

Peaceful rally in Indiana
The Peace and Justice Coalition of Michiana sponsored a "Stop the Killing in Afghanistan" march and rally December 2nd. Over 100 people came to speak out against the war! During the rally they delivered this petition to Representative Tim Roemer's office. Check out the photos from the rally, or read the rally flyer and press release. They are also distributing some great anti-war flyers that are available for free on the War Resisters League's Website.

Isn’t it time to step back from the relentless bombing of Afghanistan? Isn’t it time for suspension of bombing?
More Peace and solidarity

From Biblical times to the founding of the United Nations in 1945, men and women have dreamed and worked for a world free from war. So far they haven’t done too well.
More Justice

WASHINGTON - With the war on Afghanistan entering its third week, the death toll is rising for both Americans and Afghanis and so are the warnings that military force will bring neither justice nor peace.

CHICAGO - The broad shoulders of Chicago were weighted with grief following the terrorist bombings in New York and Washington that killed thousands. On Friday, during the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance, the city literally stopped as events were held everywhere.
More Peace and solidarity

The Global Network Against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space started planning worldwide rallies against "Star Wars" for Oct. 13 long before the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. But Global Network founder Bruce Gagnon said that with a war raging in Asia, the protests could not be more timely.
More Peace and solidarity

NEW YORK CITY - Thousands marched just a few miles from Ground Zero to call for an end to war and terrorism. They rallied Oct. 7 while workers continued the grueling job of removing the rubble of the World Trade Center and the remains of the victims.
More National Actions and Responses

The Bush Administration's bombing of Afghanistan Oct. 7 is not a solution to the terrible events of September 11th. Bush's action is driven more by revenge and retaliation, and is aimed at gaining a geo-political advantage. It is not an effective approach to ending terrorism and bringing those responsible to justice.
