"WE really need to have the same combative spirit as those five heroes,” affirmed Sam Webb, chairman of the Communist Party USA, during a meeting with the relatives of Gerardo, Ramón, Antonio, Fernando and René.

“It is ironic that these men should be fighting against terrorism and find themselves imprisoned in the ‘age of combating terrorism.’ This Bush administration is hypocritical, it lies all the time, but I am sure that we will win,” Webb added. He is on a visit to Cuba at the invitation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba...

In Nagasaki on Aug. 8, the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) and Communist Party USA (CPUSA) met to discuss their common struggle against the Bush foreign policy doctrine of first strike nuclear war. Nishiguchi Hikaru, JCP International Bureau director, and Judith Le Blanc, a CPUSA national vice chair, met at the time of the annual World Conference against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs. As a result of the meeting relations between the two parties were normalized.

Fifty-nine communist and workers' parties met in Athens, Greece June 19-20 to exchange views on the Bush Doctrine of unending war. The parties also shared a diversity of experiences of their involvement in the massive peace and anti-globalization movements that have swept the globe.

Our people have reacted with deep outrage to the public denunciation of the shameless and repeated acts of provocation by the Chief of the United States Interests Section in Cuba, acts that have clearly been conceived and carried out as part of the current U.S. administration's hostile and aggressive policy towards Cuba, with the close cooperation and support of the Miami terrorist mob and the extreme right wing in the United States.

Wednesday March 19, at 6:51 p.m., a DC-3 Aerotaxi belonging to Empresa Nacional de Servicios Aéreos (registration CUT-1 192, flight number CNI877), took off from Nueva Gerona Airport on the Isla de la Juventud bound for Havana. It carried 31 passengers, a crew of five and an escort. The passengers included 25 Cuban adults, an Italian citizen and five children.

When he was barely 18 years old, Martí wrote a document entitled “Political Prison in Cuba", after his own experience of being cruelly imprisoned, with his feet shackled, at the age of 16. In it, he declares, “God exists, however, in the idea of good, which watches over the birth of every being, and leaves in the soul that embodies it a pure tear. The good is God. The tear is the source of eternal feeling."

The bond between the Communist Party USA and the Communist Party of Vietnam is enduring, especially as a result of the movement against the U.S. imperialist war. Yet, that bond continues to grow and flourish with time. The comradeship for our Party at the Congress was overwhelming.
